SXSW 2010

I was asked to go on a roadtrip from LA to ATX to shoot the SXSW music festival for Redefine Magazine. Being from Texas and going to college at UT, it's always so nice to go back and visit my hometown, especially since I got access to photograph backstage and shoot video interviews for bands like Bear in Heaven, Metavari and dd/mm/yyyy.

Some of my other favorite performances were the Black Angels, Flying Lotus, The Blind Pets and of course Bone Thugs n Harmony. AOL even hired me to shoot their SXSW Soul Revue Concert at the Austin Music Hall, featuring Smokey Robinson. It was a great time and I can't wait for next year. Chris Clarke

Just shot Chris Clarke's new album cover. His new record drops on Christmas Day! He is one of LA's finest. You may have heard of his dad, grammy award winner Stanley Clarke, one of the most celebrated bass players in the world. And you know what they say...like father, like son. Check him out.

AC Supper Club

Last night I went to the Air Conditioned Supper Club in Venice for the first time with my good friends Ms. Giggly and N. Brown Clothing. The performers on the bill that I went to see were DJ Quickie Mart, Gotham Green, I am Omni, DJ Ivy & Lisa D'Amato and her smokin' hot bikini dancers. It was quite the experience to say the least. Gotham Green was hosting the show and also performed. My favorite was a sick freestyle he did over a beat, arranged by DJ Quickie Mart, with a sample from Human Nature in honor of Michael Jackson. The other highlight of the night was watching the mesmerizing performance by Lisa D'Amato. She brought so much energy to the stage with her catchy beats by DJ Ivy, choreographed dance moves and her three bikini clad background dancers. The ex-top model turned pop singer came out swinging in her gold robe and then later segwayed into the rest of her performance in a gold polka-dot bikini. She reminds me of the Hollywood version of MIA. This LA girl is super sexy, talented and fun. I can't wait to see her perform again...check out all the rest of the flicks here!

Hip Hop Icons

I went to see my friend, ICON the Mic King, perform in front of a packed house at the Terrace in Pasadena. My good friends Haps, Gotham Green and DJ Quickie Mart all came out to show some love and support for ICON. He's the real deal...it only took two songs on stage to have the crowd begging for more! His last set was a freestyle rap. He had Gotham Green collect various items from the crowd's pockets and bags, then handed them one by one to ICON as he felt the item and rapped about what it was he was holding in his hand...blindfolded the whole time! It is insane how talented he is. We ended the night at the Airliner Club in Los Angeles to see some DJs spin and to take some more photos. For more photos check out this link.
