FYF Fest

I went to the FYF Fest in the Los Angeles State Historic Park a few months ago. These are mostly outtakes of the crowd shots mixed in with a few bands. You can see more of the photos from that awesome day on the Redefine Mag website!

Coachella 2010

I just finished editing photos from an amazing weekend at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA. It was my second year in a row to go there and cover the event. This year I was asked to shoot for the Do LaB, an amazing group of musicians, artists and performers who I camped with and documented during the whole festival. This year seemed to be more jam packed than last year. There was so many people that it was a little more difficult to get around from show to show, but the ones I saw were well worth the wait! Some of my favorite performances of the week were from The Dead Weather, Fever Ray, Beach House, Thom Yorke and Flea, Grizzly Bear, Les Claypool, Muse, Hot Chip, The xx and of course the Do LaB. You can see all my photos from the festival here! Long live Coachella ;)

Fuel TV

I got a sweet gig shooting for Fuel TV. My good friend and talented photographer Tiffany Rose asked me to come shoot for their daily music show, The Daily Habit. It's a great opportunity to meet and photograph some of my favorite musicians and bands. These are shots from Alberta Cross and The Soft Pack. I get to see a live show on the set of Fuel TV, go backstage and take photos...not a bad days work. I love my job!

The Black Apples

The Black Apples and The Warlocks performed at Spaceland on Saturday night. I got to shoot some promo shots for the Black Apples backstage and even checked out their after party in Silverlake...not a bad night. I really like both of these LA based bands. If you haven't seen them live then you are missing out! Check out the rest of the pics from this awesome show here.

Black Milk

Photos from The Air Conditioned Supper Club in Venice, CA featuring performances by Black Milk, Gotham Green, Optimus and DJ Mishaps. A special thanks to N. Brown Clothing for putting together another great night of hip hop music! Check out all the photos here!

Echo

I went to the ECHO, with my good friends the Duquettes, to see Alexandra Hope perform songs from her new album Invisible Sunday. When we arrived there was free pizza from Two Boots Pizza downstairs, so we settled in and grabbed a drink before the show started. Alexandra plays electric guitar and lead vocals, backed up only by the drums. The result is a minimalist yet surprisingly powerful sound. She's one of my new favorites on the LA scene for sure! I ended up buying her record next door at one of the coolest record stores in LA, called Origami. The photo on her album cover is a beautiful portrait of her taken by my friend and NYC photographer, Bek Andersen. A band called Gliss played shortly after Alexandra's set. I had never heard of Gliss before, but their sound was quite familiar. They reminded me a little of the Ravonettes and the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, but with a little more pop. They were really good and seemed to have quite the fan following. They switched instruments throughout their set and by the end of the night they each had played guitar, bass and drums for at least two songs.

Musexpo 2009

I had the great opportunity to shoot the Musexpo 2009 for Redefine Magazine. Musexpo is one of the biggest music industry conferences in the world, which involves top executives from every level and sector of the music business, as well as artists, songwriters, agents, managers, festival organisers and everything else music-related. The Viper Room and the Whisky a Go Go were the two venues where the different bands performed. The crowd went back and forth between the two clubs to see their favorite bands on stage. Highlights from the night included performances by Purple Melon, Big Elf, Black Room and Our Lunar Activities. I got to shoot the bands after their sets and met some extremely talented muscians!
