I was asked to shoot a portrait of Steve Erickson last month for Transfuge Magazine. He is an accomplished author and currently the film critic for Los Angeles Magazine as well as the editor of the literary journal Black Clock. Needless to say, he has quite an impressive resume and his experience definitely backs it up. So, when given the opportunity, I was more than happy to take his portrait for the French magazine. Here are a few images from our shoot...the first one is the one that was published as a two page spread in the new issue! Check it out here.
Olvera Street is the oldest part of Downtown Los Angeles. There are tons of Mexican vendor stands lining the tiny street. My friend Mikey went there and bought three Lucha Libre masks. We decided to take the subway to Hollywood and Highland and snap some pics of him dressed in costume as the self proclaimed "Negro Libre." Check out the whole shoot here.
I shot with Christina Murphy almost a year ago. She's an amazing actress and just so happens to be incredibly funny. Who would have thought this time last year she'd be one of the newest rising stars in Hollywood?! Apparently the Wayans Brothers did because she plays Nora in their new satirical comedy “Dance Flick!” The film is in theaters tomorrow, May 22 and it's already getting great reviews. I'll be there with camera in hand. This movie is gonna be hilarious, I hope to see you there!
Markus Klinko & Indrani's "Icons" was presented by the Month of Photography Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center on April West Hollywood. It was sponsored by the Lucie Foundation, Smashbox Studios, Opus and Flaunt Magazine. Marcus Klinko & Indrani are a photography duo that have become notorious for producing iconic images of celebrities. They have a new reality show on Bravo called “Double Exposure." It will follow Klinko & Indrani, along with fashion stylist GK Reid, giving viewers a behind the scenes look at the fast-paced world of high fashion and celebrity photography. Celebrity guests at the "Icons" exhibit included Lindsay Lohan, Perez Hilton & Rhona Mitra to name a few.
Last week I had the chance to photograph Pasqual Bettio's Museum of ARTography and Assemblage in Hollywood. He is an amazing artist with an eclectic body of work. He has a series of "Hollywood Heads" that are strangely captivating and hauntingly beautiful. In one of his rooms he plastered old Hollywood posters onto the ceiling...I found the clowns and actors to be quite intriguing.
